First Thursdays: LGBTQ+ Aging with PRIDE
This presentation led by Reva Farenback-Brateman looks at challenges faced by the elder LGBTQ+ community & JFCS resources provided.
Physical health, emotional well-being, financial stability, and social engagement are essential for successful aging. Sadly, these are some of the areas in which many LGBTQ+ elders face significant barriers. LGBTQ+ Aging with Pride, a group for LGBTQ+ elders age 50 and older, was created by JFCS to offer a safe place where folks can be their authentic selves, meet others in the community and share experiences. While today there is a lot of emphasis on LGBTQ+ young people, come hear from the creator of this group and some of its members, Mitch Augarten and Don Levitsky, who have survived and thrived, as new threats to the LGBTQ+ community are on the horizon.
